Hate incidents and hate crimes seriously threaten society today. Thousands of people are victimized each year because of their skin colour, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. There is a pressing need for all Canadians to take an active role in preventing hate behaviours and creating inclusive, safe, and harmonious environment for all Canadians. A Canada for All: Canada’s Action plan Against Racism, published by the Department of Canadian. Heritage sheds light as it reads: “A society free from racism, more than a matter of principle, this Canada’s vision. It brings together people of all backgrounds-ethnic, racial and religious to build a society where one’s heritage is a source of pride and inspiration.” A Canada for all is a call to action for all individuals and groups who have made Canada their home. All Sectors of society –governments, organizations and individuals, ethno- racial and ethno- cultural communities- are invited to embrace action against hate and racism as shared task with shared responsibilities and shared benefits.
